Now that you have made your EVERNOTE account and downloaded the application on all of your devices, it's time to learn how to use it. Here are the basics!

FOR MAC:
1. Your account comes with a default notebook named(username)’s notebook
  • The menu on the left helps you navigate between your notes, notebooks, atlas and trunk.

2. In your default notebook, there is one note already there entitled “Getting Started” that provides additional help from the Evernote creators.

3. Towards the upper left of the screen, there is a “+ New Notebook” button, which creates a new notebook ready to be renamed, edited, and managed.

4. Once you open a notebook you created (or the default notebook), click the “+ New Note in (Notebook Name)”. In this case the notebook is entitled “Fall 2013”.

  • A preview of the note appears on the left. This view can be changed from “Card View” as shown, to "Snippet View" or "List View", and can be sorted by title, date, or source.
  • There are also areas to add tags, format your text, and enter text as shown in the screenshot.

5. Also, there are buttons to sync your notes with other devices and search your notes and notebooks for tags, topics, dates, and keywords

6. The last basic feature of Evernote is the Atlas, which organizes your notes based on the location where they were written.

FOR PC:
1. Your account comes with a default notebook named(username)’s notebook

2. To create a new notebook, Click "File" in the upper left corner and select "New Notebook"
  • This will open a small window where you can rename it and manage a few setting

3. To create a note within this notebook, select the desired notebook from the navigation on the left. Then click "File" and "New Note" or simply click the "New Note" button at the top, center of the window.

  • A preview of the note appears on the left. This view can be changed from “Card View” as shown, to "Snippet View" or "List View", and can be sorted by title, date, or source.
  • There are also areas to add tags, format your text, and enter text as shown in the screenshot.

FOR IPHONE, IPAD, OR IOS DEVICE:
1. This is the opening screen when you open the Evernote Application
  • The green tabs are the main navigation for sorting through your notes, notebooks, tags, and map/atlas.
  • There is a button on the main screen for adding "New Note" as well as other buttons for capturing information. There is also a button to sync your notes with your other devices.

2. In the "All Notes" section you can view your notes, sort them, as well as add a New Note.

3. When you add a New Note, there are areas to search the note, enter and edit the title and body, and format your text.

4. In the "Notebook" section, all of the notebooks on the account are listed. Also, the "Edit" button can be used to add New Notebooks or remove them from Evernote.

5. In the "Tags" section, all of the tags used in notes so far are viewable and the "Edit" button can be used to add tags or remove them.
